To tackle the challenges of navigating busy cities like Stockholm while reducing emissions, foodora is supporting efforts to create a diversified transport mix and has phased out the usage of 2-stroke fossil fuel mopeds in Stockholm, Uppsala, and Örebro As of today, more than 30 cities in Sweden benefit from e-deliveries with foodora, powered by an active fleet of roughly 500 vehicles.
In Stockholm, the brand is currently testing various vehicles including Clean Motion’s innovative EVIG electric three-wheelers. These specialized, light electric delivery vans are being evaluated to see if they can seamlessly replace standard delivery cars. By maintaining a high carrying capacity while utilizing a lighter footprint, these vehicles provide much-needed flexibility when navigating narrow streets and congested urban environments.
To eliminate vehicle downtime, foodora has also benefited from battery-swapping infrastructure directly integrated into the urban network, enabling its electric mopeds and other vehicles to stay in continuous operation by exchanging depleted batteries for fully charged units within minutes. Combined with ongoing autonomous delivery robots across Sweden, the brand is gathering real-world data to shape the future of last-mile logistics.
By dismantling infrastructure barriers and proving the long-term economics of electrification, foodora Sweden demonstrates how targeted environmental action can drive sustainable platform growth while building lower-emission communities.
